How it all started

It all started with unbelievable air fares offered by Air Asia, a Malaysian budget airline. At B$10 (1Brunei Dollar = 1.4 USD)from Brunei to KK excluding airport tax, and 50Rm return including airport tax, It was a deal too good to be true. I booked my too and fro tickets separately as I saw a small savings doing it that way. (booking a return ticket meant that the whole journey would be billed in B$, whereas separate bookings meant that the return ticket would be billed in Rm.

But unfortunately this multiple bookings ended up in me making a massive mistake on the date. My trip was cut short from 2 and a half days to 1 and a half days, as my return ticket was miscalculated.

The flight duration is stated as 40 min, though my flight to KK took 40 min, the return flight took only 20 min

My flight landed in Terminal 2 of KK international Airport, which is actually the terminal for budget airlines. It is a relatively small building but is unexceptionally busy, with a flight landing or taking off every 10 min.

Once you have cleared Immigration and Customs, you enter the lobby of the airport which is a common lobby for both departure and arrival. There are Tourism Malaysia, Car rental and prepaid taxi counters here with lots of pamplets to guide you during your stay in KK.

A prepaid taxi will take you to the city center for 30Rm or to 1Borneo for 50Rm, but I would suggest you rent a car, which will work out much cheaper. Read more
